Land Auctions clock is inaccurate--bidding closes NOT at 00:00:00 but at seemingly random times
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: WEB-1430
                 URL: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-1430
Project: 3. Second Life Website - WEB
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Land Store
Environment: Using current regular viewer (during the duration of this Clock Inaccuracy problem I've updated viewers as prompted; problem is on site, not viewer, so this information may not be relevant. I do have latest version of JAVA installed (which may be relevant). Comp: Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU, Q8200 @ 2.33GHz; 8GB RAM, 64-bit; Vista (latest SP)
            Reporter: Ponsonby Low

On Land Auction parcel pages, the Clock that runs down to 00:00:00 to mark the close of bidding is inaccurate. The auctions actually close at some unknown time before the clock runs down. For example, a bid put through according to correct procedures at 00:00:22 may elicit a page with the message:

"This lot is no longer open for bidding. If you think this message is incorrect, please contact our Customer Service Department. Please include as much information as possible, such as your Customer Number, UserName, transaction information and the page you were trying to access. Please do not send passwords through email or webforms. For any technical questions, please be sure to include the type of browser you are using and the version (for example, Firefox 3.0 or Internet Explorer 8.0). Thank you."

This is reproducible by anyone willing to risk actually winning the auction (and thus having to pay both the money bid, and potential increases in tier.) I have gotten the 'no longer open for bidding' message at a variety of times from about 00:02:00 down to 00:00:10. Sometimes a bid made at two minutes goes through, and sometimes elicits the 'no longer open for bidding' message---there doesn't seem to be a way of predicting when bidding actually closes. (It's been suggested that one keep the inworld clock visible, but that clock doesn't count down seconds.)

Up until fall of 2009, the "00:00:00" could be relied upon to be the actual close of bidding. I hope you will pardon my expressing an opinion, but I feel strongly that a return to that situation would reflect better on LL as a reputable business than does the current inaccuracy.

Thanks for your attention to this matter.
