jack belvedere commented on VWR-15870:

this would be a very pleasant helpful feature. We moved two sims together in order to have spectators for our hockey game on one sim, and the game itself going on the other. This HAS helped us with some of the lag, but learning about the child delegates and that rezzing adjoining sims does have an effect, it would be real nice to see this option initiated. If it's available on the Opensimulator already..that's great! Means it hopefully would not be too difficult to implement at least for privately owned sims?

> Project: 1. Second Life Viewer - VWR
> Issue Type: New Feature
> Components: Performance
> Reporter: Zardoz Firanelli
> Priority: Major
> Adding the feature (in debug mode or where ever) to display only the current region, i.e. do not display adjacent regions (as is available server side in opensimulator) would give the user the following benefits:
> 1. Reduce lag by not loading data from adjacent Sims
> 2. Make the mainland look a whole lot nicer, with each region appearing as it's own square island
> 3. Reduce bandwidth used by the clients as they are not loading unrequested data
> This would also reduce the load on the region and asset servers as there would be no calls to these servers for data that is not required by the client in the first place.
> Adding this feature to the client would give each individual user the choice as to if they want to view adjacent regions or not, since this option is not available on the Mainland, which is the only place it would actually be required.
