StarSong Bright commented on SVC-3653:

I am SOOOOO voting for this one! I have a huge inventory (over 65k) of so many things I have built and bought and whatnot. I have backups of everything, and many i DO have backed up in boxes but that is cumbersome as heck trying to remember *which* box something was in AND what it was called AND how you packed it away. Boxes do not allow sub folders so you end up with boxes inside boxes inside boxes. It quickly becomes a huge mess. And sometimes you end up unpacking a bunch of boxes to find a thing and then you have to figure out what is still packed and not packed and agh /me pulls hair.

Anybody who blithely says "oh just stick it in a box" probably doesn't have a very complex set of stuff to back up. I would SERIOUSLY love a secondary storage inventory, one that does NOT get searched unless i specifically go to that tab looking for something. My searches would be sooo much faster if SL wasnt chugging through my crazy large inventory.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I am begging you LL PLEASE do this if you possibly can. The asset servers are always straining lately, something like this might help cut down on overhead if it was done right, and it would make it so much easier for those of us with huge inventory demands.

> Inventory becomes unwieldy with thousands of items in it. For each avatar, create a "Storage" option that the Avatar can drop infrequently used Inventory items into for storage. Just like in RL, most people have a place they store the stuff they do not use often, but don't want to get rid of. This could accomplish a few things.
> It would allow you to reduce what's in your "Active Inventory" and make it more manageable. This is HUGE.
> This is for the engineers to determine, but logic would suggest that by separating "Active Inventory" from "Storage" could reduce the burden placed on the Asset Database. Load only the "Active Inventory" rather than the entire inventory of thousands of items for each Avie. Provide a means to transfer items from "Active Inventory" to storage, and visa versa.
